I have a deep abiding love and respect for animals. Growing up, my family maintained an assortment of critters from dogs and cats to sheep and ducks. There was always room for one more if they were in need of love and care.
I believe that all animals deserve to be cared for in a humane way. So when my two dogs were making life challenging, I didn’t want to use any method that would hurt them or cause them to fear me. A friend suggested that I read Jan Fennell’s first book “The Dog Listener.” By changing simple every day

Through Jan's method, I realized that I was treating my dogs like humans, and it was very confusing to them. By interacting with them in ways they understand, I have developed a calm and relaxed atmosphere in my home. I wanted to help other people learn how to live with their canine companions in a loving, peaceful, stress free environment. When I learned that Jan Fennell was training others to teach her method, I traveled to England to take the Foundation Course. |
The next year I was invited back to take the Advanced Course, which certified me as a Preliminary Dog Listener. I have now achieved the status of Highly Recommended Dog Listener and Mentor based on my clients’ evaluations of my work and my volunteer work with our local animal shelter. I am honored to be counted among the many Dog Listeners word wide who are teaching people how to live with their dogs in an atmosphere of relaxed friendship based on mutual respect, trust and understanding. |
